Keqing (Mandy) discovered her love for the ocean while earning her Open Water Scuba certification on the remote island of San Andres, Colombia. That experience sparked a dream to swim with whales and led her to freediving?first explored in her hometown in China, then honed through training trips to the cenotes of Mexico. Over the years, Mandy has trained through both AIDA and Molchanovs systems, but found her home in FII for its strong emphasis on safety. While many are drawn to the competitive side of freediving, Mandy?s interest lies more in recreational diving, spearfishing, and most importantly, in learning how to dive safely and responsibly. Her dedication to these principles led her to become an FII Assistant Instructor, where she now hopes to share her knowledge and help cultivate a strong safety culture in the freediving community. Mandy has had the privilege of training with 13-time world record holder Martin Stepanek, whose guidance has shaped her approach both in and out of the water. For her, freediving is a journey of personal growth, mental resilience, and mindfulness. Through teaching, she hopes to inspire others to explore the water with confidence, curiosity, and care.
