Amazing instruction. Joe and Chad are both very high caliber teachers. There passion for this comes out in every word they say. My classroom time was with Joe, (who absolutely meets up to his reputation) and my time in the water was mostly with Chad. He was very easy to learn from. I wish I could have spent another day in the water picking his brain. I came to this course with my fiance, so we would feel comfortable spearfishing the rigs in Louisiana. Having been inside the rigs once before coming to Benthic for proper training, I now understand how stupid that was. If you want to get into this, you need to book a course.

The only thing I would have really benefitted from would have been 1 hour of free pool time at the end of day 1. I could have used several extra reps of water entry, as well as a few laps of finning underwater to get more comfortable. Classroom instruction was amazing. I liked everything about the Open water setup. 3 people to a float made is feel like personal training.

I really enjoyed my FII experience. Totally new to the sport and my instructor Zachary Small really helped me grasp the concept of things and helped me with my main issue : equalizing . I wasn’t able to equalize on my first course and was set to do a makeup of my open water and Zach would facilitate my calls multiple times with advice and encouragement . He helped me push through my issue and I was able to complete the course and fall in love with the sport . Now set to do more courses and I can’t wait to work with him again .

Absolutely Five Stars. As a well-seasoned citizen, I have taken classes of various and technical types. Joe delivered a most engaging and informative class. Joe, in my opinion, is one of the best trainers/facilitators I have ever encountered. For anyone looking for a class, this is where you want to start. The small group setting allowed for the one on one that I believe brought out the best in the students. Highly recommend!
